Why You Should Work for a Tech Company

February 6, 2017

After a new job? The tech field might be in your best interest. It’s the optimal time to be a part of the rapidly growing industry; millennials are flocking to tech companies in staggering numbers. For one, the jobs are there, the compensation is handsome and the job security is a given. To boot, these companies are known for their stellar culture (think Google scooters and nap pods). You might be wise to follow suit and do the same.

High Demand

The job opportunities are endless and there’s no end in sight to the exponential growth of the innovative field. Whether you want to try your hand at programming, or simply want to take your non-tech skill set somewhere else, tech is an attractive place to be right now.

Learning Experience

If you’re after a challenge, opting for a technical job is a sure way to step outside of your comfort zone and gain a valuable skill set. With smaller startups, you may wear multiple hats and be exposed to a number of different projects. If you consider yourself a proactive problem solver, you already fit the bill. The experience you garner from any technical position will only benefit you in the future as you seek out other opportunities.

Culture, Compensation, and More

It’s no secret that the culture of established and up and coming tech companies is progressive, fun and motivating. When you’re constantly working towards a common goal, pushing towards the next big thing, it’s easy to forget you’re at work. Not to mention, all of the free food, awesome perks, and access to cutting edge technology. As if loving your job isn’t enough, U.S. News ranked the nine best tech jobs in 2016, reporting that their median salaries ranged from $61,000-127,000. In addition, tech companies are offering paid maternity leave, pet insurance and other perks that you just don’t find anywhere else. A nice paycheck coupled with a workplace you look forward to each day is pretty much a no brainer.
